Meet The 5 Nigerian Male Stylists Behind Some Of The Celebrity Looks You Adore

Celebrities are more often than not in the spotlight, under public scrutiny and dealing with the media. This lifestyle requires that they always bring their A-Game whether it is on the red carpet, a casual outing or a booked appearance. Because celebrities understand the importance of personal branding, they turn to stylists and image consultants to help them build a strong, provocative and admirable style profile.

For the most part, we only hear the names of the stylists behind the celebrity looks we love but hardly ever see them. So for a change, let’s take a look at some of the most in-demand male stylists in Nigeria.

Dimeji Alara

Dimeji Alara is currently the fashion editor of Elle Magazine South Africa where he broke records as both the first black male and none South African editor of the magazine. He started his career with Genevieve Magazine Nigeria as a junior reporter in 2004 before launching his own magazine, StyleMania, in collaboration with Nigerian photographer, Kelechi Amadi-Obi. In 2013, Dimeji moved back to Genevieve magazine where he served as editor till 2015. Considering the years he has been active, it is a lot easier to mention celebrities that he hasn’t styled, due to his very long and high-profile resume.

Oluwatosin Ogundagdebe – The Style Infidel

Oluwatosin Ogundagdebe more popularly know by his moniker is arguably one of the most standout stylist in Nigeria. From his creative editorials which usually feature the marriage of more than one culture or concept that one would never consider mixing, to his impeccable styling of celebrities like Rita Dominic, Joseph Benjamin, Adesua Etomi, and Omotola Ekeinde to styling the award-winning poster of one of the best Nollywood 2017 movies, ‘Alter Ego’, Tosin’s work speaks for itself and is easily identifiable.

Jeremiah Ogbodo – Swanky Jerry

Easily one of the best stylists in the game, this image consultant, style influencer, and stylist is the fashionable mastermind behind most of the looks you fall in love with on the red carpet including celebrities like Tonto Dikeh and Juliet Ibrahim.

Jekwu Mbaebie – Jekwu The Stylist

Celebrity stylist Jekwu Mbaebie known more popularly as Jekwu The Stylist is one stylist to watch. Other than the fact that Jekwu is definitely hair goals, his detailed fashion styling portfolio includes A-List celebs like Tuface Idibia, Wizkid, Ice Prince and Don Jazzy. His signature seems to be a more modern and urban approach than the other stylists on this list.

Godson Ukaegbu

Godson Ukaegbu takes on a more practical and business approach to fashion which was evident when he worked hand-in-hand with Dimeji Alara on Mania Magazine where they successfully styled just about every Nigerian celebrity you can think of from Linda Ikeji to Lanre DaSilva Ajayi and Tiwa Savage. Godson applies a more subtle touch to his styling; but however subtle his intense creativity and professionalism shines through on all his work.
