LFW: Unusually Striking Designs Highlight Christopher Kane’s SS19 Collection
A passionate writer, self proclaimed chef and lover of music…
In a period when the world is really into free thinking and expression and the women empowerment initiative has come to make progress, fashion is definitely playing a significant role in both movements; trust Christopher Kane to come up with something edgy that fuels both!
Words like “sexual cannibalism” could be seen on outfits as models strutted down the pristine grey runway.
Aside from the very graphic slogan pieces, there were also dresses of various lengths with armour-like bodices in the lineup, and other creatively unique pieces. Christopher Kane loves to spin around new ideas but for this collection, it was obvious that he toned down with the styling, instead sticking to a few different textures he chose to focus on which included glossy silks, prim white cotton and jewel-toned lace. With these textures, he produced full tulle skirts, corset-style pieces, fluttery white dresses, while adding a bit of edge with all the unabashed approach to sex, illustrations and abstract paintings of bodies in different positions. For many of Christopher Kane’s followers, this collection seems to be a continuation of an editorial on ES magazine where he wrote his first sex column offering relationship advice to those who found themselves in bedroom conundrums.
Here are a few of our favourite looks from the collection…
