Last Week, The Best Beauty Looks Bordered On High Impact

aring, glamorous, and irresistible are some of the words that best describe the beauty looks that captured our attention last week. From red carpet servings to #instabeauty takes, each look was as bold and powerful as the women who wore them. What stood out the most to us was that these women offered enough hair and makeup for Black skin inspiration to flatter every melanin-rich tone. The result? An unapologetic parade of Blackness in all its glory!

The Looks

Makeup

Hollywood actress, Tessa Thompson was a delightful vision as she attended the Armani Beauty event held in her honor in Culver City, California last week. While her outfit was enough reason to be mesmerized, her makeup equally stole a spot in our hearts. Her look featured a unique tone of purple on her lips that perfectly accentuated her skin. Furthermore, her well-filled brows and subtle eye makeup added to the allure of the look. Now that she’s officially an Armani Beauty ambassador, we can expect to see more winning looks like this.

Vibrant and glam certainly have their place. But when you want to make a statement without appearing like you made an effort, subtle is surely the way to go. If there’s one person who clearly understands this, it’s Sabrina Elba who posed for the gram making a case for subtle. Perhaps, it’s a witty excuse to put her flawless skin on display. Considering she recently launched a skincare brand with hubby Idris Elba, her point has undoubtedly been made.

Hair

Any hairstyle that maximizes your slay-power while protecting your hair is always a win in our book. This is because, inasmuch as you want to make a style statement, you don’t want to do it at the risk of your mane. (The internet is filled with several horror stories.) So, when we see Black women rocking hairstyles like these, it’s always a pleasure. Last week, Nigerians Tems and Temi Otedola added more bars to our pleasure batteries thanks to their choice of hairdo. Otedola opted for any knots while Tems stayed loyal to the good ‘ol braids.

Check out the impressive hair and makeup for Black skin inspirations we spotted last week…
