The master of excess, Philipp Plein was at it again as his space Odyssey-themed fall runway came fully equipped with an 18-meter-wide floating spaceship, bright red laser lights, soapy artificial snow and giant moon rocks broken down by a tractor so a couple of snowmobiles could zip through. At some point, a paralympic runner sprinted by in ‘Plein’ Sport gear.
The whole ambience and production was an artistic wonder, with a UFO hovering over the catwalk as artificial snow fell. Philipp Plein’s futuristic fashion show was really impressive and one of the highlights of the show was when the UFO delivered supermodel Irina Shayk to a robot, who then went on to serenade her with Frank Sinatra’s ‘Fly Me to the Moon’.
Also seen on the runway was P Diddy’s son, Christian Casey Combs who’s been steady pushing his craft as a model and singer in the last couple of years.
The theatrics in Plein’s show helped the garments along. The pieces which embodied a lifestyle brought star trek to mind in a good way. According to Plein, “The idea of conquering space is every child’s dream, and it was also mine“. This was planet Plein, where difference and diversity isn’t a concern and you need only some serious attitude.
