S

lam dunk! That was one spot-on way to define the red carpet fashion game last week–all scored with no miss. From festivals like the Red Sea International Film Festival in Saudi Arabia to the 32nd Annual Gotham Awards at the Cipriani Wall Street in New York, Hollywood’s finest unsurprisingly gravitated towards ensembles that had a strong connection with classy, creativity, and a bit of sass.

The stars paraded in clothing with details like exaggerated trains, shimmery fabrics, and figure-hugging fits. Simply put, awards season is here, and with the holidays in full gear, the best sartorial moments are constantly crafted. As a result, we’re seeing Black celebs determined to end the year in full-on fashionable Black excellence.

The looks

Jada Pinkett-Smith wore an asymmetrical Stephane Rolland haute couture white number to the Emancipation movie premiere with her family. She brought the classy drama in this dress, which was embroidered with crystals and had an interesting train. Jada styled the look with Giuseppe Zanotti sandals and an Allora ear pin by Kat Kim.

The red carpet certainly felt the heat last week, and on December 1, a glowing preggo Jasmine Tookes radiated class at the Red Sea International Film Festival in a solid Naeem Khan SS20 stunner. The intricately woven details all over the frock and the ease of her silhouette were indeed a sight to behold.

Meanwhile, Nollywood star Beverly Naya hosted the Moet & Chandon Effervescence event in Lagos, wearing a splendid Weiz Dhurm Franklyn number. The brown SS23 RTW piece featured bold golden detailing and a hem attached loosely at the waistline, which she coordinated with complementary golden sandals and Tiffeny accessories.
