The 8th edition of the BEFFTA Awards went down on October 27th and 28th, 2016 at the Rock Tower building in London. This year’s event was hosted by legendary actor from the Hollywood blockbuster movie Pirates Of The Caribbean Dr Winston George Ellis and Media Mogul and BEFFTA founder Dr Pauline Long.
BEFFTA Awards is a distinctly special awards ceremony honouring the best showbiz and
entertainment personalities in the black and ethnic communities in the UK, USA, Africa,
Caribbean, Canada and globally. BEFFTA Awards is the first of its kind rewarding under one roof outstanding achievements and contributions from Africans, Caribbeans and Asians in entertainment, film, fashion, television and arts. Notable Nigerian such as Don Jazzy, Dbanj, Omotola Jalade, Sesan, Wale Ojo, Adebayo Jones, Asake Oge and Obi Emelonye have been awarded in the past.
For the first time in its history will a made in Nigeria magazine win the category of “Magazine of the Year”. Past winners in this category include New African Woman, Inspired Lifestyle Magazine, Afro Pulp Magazine and C.Hub Magazine. Publications which were nominated for the category this year are African Dazzle, New African Woman, Womanhood Global, London Le Blanc, Diamond celebrities, YAYA Magazine, Afropulp, NU People, C.HUB Magazine, Pearl Woman, Glam Africa, Tropics Magazine, Swish Magazine, Tropics Magazine, Ten 2 Teens, Pause Mag, Mambo Magazine, My Trinity Magazine, Black Hair Magazine, Afronoire, Creme de la Bride and Afrowomanonline.com.
BlackNBold Magazine is an African inspired publication which showcases the best of made by Africans and tells the stories of emerging entrepreneurs of colour in a different way. Its maiden edition was released in the year 2014 featuring Seyi Shay and was distributed in over 10 countries. Its lastest edition featuring Falz The Bahd Guy seems to be its most successful edition.
