h well, don’t you just love good glam? If like most of us, you’re obsessed with a face card that never declines, then you’ll be excited by what Black girls brought to the show last week. From Paris to Lagos, New York to London, these women made heads turn, offering a pretty good reason to submit our minds to their irresistible and authentic glam takes. Yup, we expect that after seeing this list, you too will only ponder on the black girl makeup and hairstyles spotted last week. Are you ready?
The Looks
Makeup
We kick things off with the legendary Janet Jackson who reminded us last week that she’s still got it. In celebration of 25 years of her highly successful 1997 album “The Velvet Rope,” Jackson showed up looking as stunning as she did when the album was first released. Her makeup, created by Preston Meneses, highlighted her almond eyes with shimmering silver shadow punctuated with ink-black eyeliner and dust of black shadow. Her well-filled brows and nude lips finished off the look quite nicely. And oh, the nose ring added an edgy flair to the entire glam. Talk about fine wine!
While Janet Jackson’s look was strong and edgy, Keke Palmer’s was more subtle but in no way less impactful, showing that there’s more than one way to play the black girl makeup card. Speaking at the SAG-AFTRA event last week, the actress brilliantly embodied the less is more mantra making a case for nudes. Such an irresistible subtle take needed some character to get the party rolling, and for that, a flirty liner was called upon. The result is a face beat that will work from day to night without breaking a sweat.
Hair
Meanwhile, in the hair category, all we saw was red courtesy of Megan Thee Stallion. The rapper debuted a bold hairdo at the 2022 Forbes 30 Under 30 Summit in Detroit Michigan. Her red wavy hair was styled half up, half down, thus, complementing her skin tone and emphasizing her facial features. We absolutely love!
