The crowd was agog to see Gert Johan Coetzee showcase his collection and when he finally did, he left more than half of the crowd gasping as he presented the most stunning couture pieces. The South African designer who made his debut at LFDW made sure no one would forget him easily. He took style to another level as he presented pieces that were delicately crafted infusing boned bodice for structure and flirty feminine fit on the pieces. The feel of the fabric takes you to a different universe (yes, I was opportune to go backstage and I felt the fabrics he used).
If you have seen his designs on celebrities like Toke Makinwa and Stephanie Coker, you would know that Gert loves intricate ruffles, frills, overlapping tiers, sheer peek-a-boo and more standout details and these were incorporated into this collection. The details were exaggerated on breathtaking floor length dresses, babydoll dresses, jumpsuit, coverups and more with jewel-encrusted star details on the hem of the baby doll dress that left people screaming for more
Top model, Tarmar Awobotu opened the show wearing an exquisite off-the-shoulder bodysuit tucked into a sheer detailed skirt, accessorising with a white faux fur shawl. She made way for even more elaborate pieces that came in white, peach, pink, nude and black. The show closed out in style with a gold number that every bride could wear on her day. The collection was sexy, glam and very feminine.
